After the center muffler my car has a 2.5 inch pipe which leads into a hotdog. ATM it is't very loud, and is lacking a decent note, should I cut out the hotdog and replace that with pipe, or cut out the center muffler and rplace that with pipe, or will that be too loud, and sound crap
I have pretty much the same on my 3.5 and it sounds sweet - center muffler 2.5" pipe and hotdog, maybe your muffler is stuffed. A new turbo muffler should allow it to breathe and give a good note.

Saddle up tonto, its the not so loanrangie! . 98 TDI DISCO lightly modded with more to come.
Leave the hot dog in. It's designed to prevent resonation in the car, not restrict noise.
You'll find the muffler is the restriction. Have a zorst shop cut it out and fit a sports on.
Just watch out for how loud it is to judge what sort of sport muffler to install. If the engine's a bit old, a more straight through one is OK. If it has a new cam, etc, it will make a racket!

For a 3.5, I find that the 2 1/4 is more than enough. I like the note but not too much raquet
I had a 2 1/2 on my 3.9 EFI and it was fine not too noisy. I also had an erxtra muffler added as well and you could only hear it when giving it a hiding off-road or up hills.
