AIR compressor placement?
AIR compressor placement?
O.k with the zook now gone 4 good .............And with the A.R.B air compressor now ready to install int the mav ,ive came to a halt had a looksy under the hood this arvo and there just aint no f_ucken room in the bay 4 it ,it seems ? .......................i also have dual batt setup which takes up the most ideal spot!
So to every1 out there where have you fixed yours ( engine bay or under the seat).............
Dont really like the under the seat idea due to the fact that the amount on heat comes from the compressor and the noise factor .....
So if any 1 out there can shed some light of where they put theres (pics would be good too)
heres the e Bay

Not that I've tried it mind.......but what about behind the panel in the rear where the standard jack now resides.
When I eventually get a compressor, that's where I'm going to try. I can't fit mine under the bonnet for the same reasons and don't like the under the seat option.
Just an idea......tell me how it goes, if it fits etc.
Regards

Ruff had a look at those two spots
1 behind second batt is prob do-able but will make it tight with 2 soloenoids on compressor and air line fitting 4 tyre pump up( and yes i know how shite they are 4 this purposeie inflatin tyres)
2 beside brake master tooooo tight ( although too tight isnt all that bad )in some cases
Drafty under seat bit worried boutn heat if i had too inflate tyres enough to get to a servo without overheating underinflated treads..........
I know from using this compresor to inflate even piddly 31"s couldnt touch end of hose after doin only 4 ( end that clips to diconect on comp........not sure how my creature comfort carpet would handle it"?
Cheers

Well to answer your question,
I owned an MQ patrol, and i had it mounted under the drivers seat, i used it to inflate 8 32x11.5's all in a row without a break. Th comp managed it ok, i had no dramas, it wasnt a 40 degree day mind you, it was mid to high 20's.
I now own a GQ, the comp will soon be taking residence on the drivers side rear wheel arch, mounted infront of a reasonable size oxygen bottle (i managed to score 6 of the suckers) i will be running a line off the bottle and into a air line manifold. 1 line into the manifold and 8 possible outlets. 4 of tjhose outlets will be filled, 1, with a locker sol. 2, with a standard tubeless valve iv managed to hoock up, so i can presasureise the tank at the servo before i head bush to minimise strain on the comp, and the other 2 will head out to quick disconects on either side of the car.
Hope this will help you. No pics, as i havnt started the install, will post when complete (not sure when)

Cheers people keep em comin
Had alook at the jack compartment place idea , but i was at work so didnt have the compressor to accurately c but would definately have to modify (make ) a new mounitn bracket
Just another thought havent had a good look at this proposal but maybe move the rad overflow bottle (remove and use a smaller 1) and place comp there ?

Not a bad idea at all, but the first thing i look at is the posibility of water ingestion, i also had the idea at one stage to mount it in a water tight box, with a fitting connnecting it to a length of hose that runs through the inside of the snorkel to get fresh air. The way i see it is you supply clean air to your engine, why wouldnt you do the same to your comp.
Just and idea let us know which way you decide to go as many others may decide to follow in your path.

I have mine under the passengers seat, no problems with it, and the carpet. Noise isn't a major issue I think, as you are out of the car when pumping tyres and it only runs for a short time to refill the tank when using the locker.
Do you want pics? I will have the seat out as I have a airline to replace after the extractors melted the old one. Cheaper to replace the whole line than using joiners and less hassles with leaks etc.
Oh, and chicks dig the vibrations Mischief mode off.....

Just mean that with the swivel mount on the compressor that the tank and piston setup (mainly the piston action is runnin on an angel appossed to vertical just didnt think there would be enough room to run inthe vertical position due to the seat having to slide for rear acces to seats (have to leave seat in rear unfortunatley due to misses being preggas and gota take the ruggy 4bying

Sell the ARB compressor as it s to slow and you will only get pis ed of with it then use the money to either by a endless air or go to the wreckers and get a Sanden compressor thats what im running it fits on the passenger side belowthe altenator and air con conpressor tight fit but worth it just dont by the mounting kit for the endless air as it was a rip of for 2 little brakets and one belt that had to be forced on also the mounting drawing look like a 2 year old had drawn it I used to have a ARB compressor mounted under the drivers seat it was ok

Well Ruff you were right ended up fittin it in one of the areas you mention ...................
Just moved the black cannister (vacuum) beside the second battery forward and mounted the cannister to the side of the battery stand
and fitted the compressor nicely in front of the filter will get pics to show yas who r interested..........
Still gotta wire it up yet tho
