Drive shaft Q's

Post by Thommo 73 »

would worn slip yoke splines cause vibrations and rattles under load and at low to moderate speeds in the front drive shaft on a LC?
the unis are fine but the slip yoke/joint has a fair bit of play in it,
and is there ment to be a cap in the end of the drive shaft to stop the grease coming out.

cheers

yes to the worn slip yoke and to the dust cap in the slip yoke
if you leave it for to long it will cause damage to the uni's and even cause probs to the g box n diff

you should always pull the drive shaft out to grease the splines if you use the grease nipple the grease fluid locks at the end of the shaft and punches the welsh plug out water gets in and damages the spline.

I am experiencing some shake fron tthe front end...

I busted my rear diff, and had to drive home on the fronts...

What else can you try with the spline, or is it a new shaft that is needed?
