22nd and 23rd of October then would be the best weekend in October to have it.

If so the calender would look like this.

Vic Winch Challenge is on 30th sep to 2nd of Oct
then 1 week
Bathurst is on 6th to 9th Oct.
then 2 weeks
Vic werock 22nd 23rd Oct
2 weeks Nissan Trials

What are the dates on the events in Queensland???? Somebody that knows please add them in.

This is the date were are leaning towards. And personaly i dont think Bathurst has any thing to do with the offroad Comp Calender. Maybe 20 years ago but not anymore. Its as boring as bat shit to watch now.

Only problem with the 22-23 Oct was this was the weekend we were planing on running the OuterLimits wild weekend. But this may just be pushed back a little further.

We are trying to run this round as late as possible so there is more time for people to finish building vehicles.

We have Mud Bulls and Music on the same weekend as Nissan Trials. Its a big couple of months no matter when its run.

Why the big push for October, If you hold it on say the 22nd (or there abouts) of October it only leaves 3 weekends then you have to backup for the finals. I dare say most people would be struggling to fix/rebuild there rigs in 3 weeks. Also getting time of work for most people in such a close period of time would suck for most people.

I can't see anything wrong with Mid September! :?

Also there comes a point when people have to choose between what events they are going to attend.

The way i see it is that not many competitors from WEROCK would be overly concerned with other events, i meen its up to them to decide whether they want to compete at WEROCK or another event. As for spectators, well i think most of them will be from Melbourne and a few from Sydney, so i don't really think that events in QLD need to be considered into the equation. Also if someone wants to stay at home and watch the AFL, NRL Grandfinal or Bathurst then good on them. I don't really see why Australias Best Rockcrawling event needs to consider everyones diaries.

Not having a go at anyone, just stating that there comes a point when there is just so many comps and events on that the organisors can't please everyone.

Something that may or may not play a part in your decision making process on dates is Australia's biggest and best 4WD show, the National 4x4 Show which is on in Melbourne 20th-23rd October. Does this interfere more so than other outside events?

The way I see it is, Werock is a new event and so far even spectator numbers have been down to what it should be. So there for I think it is best to try and have it on a weekend that doesn`t clash with anything else giving it its best possible chance of spectator numbers.

I think it comes down to how long it will take to organize. Mid September does not give people much time to arrange the event itself.

Perhapsin years to come when the general logistics of Rock event organization are in place events could be arranged in a short time, however considering that this is the first event of its type in VIC there will be much work to be done in the meantime.

No matter what date you set there will be some people who can attand and others that can't. It really comes down to the promoters/organizers.

Im thinking its got to be the October 8th and 9th at the latest. What does this date clash with??

The plan is that Hobzee and Cheezy are going out to the site this weekend to have more of a look around and also to speak with the parties involved (council, landowner etc) and we will know for sure if this is a goer early next week.

Believe me - getting something new like this running on private property with unregistered vehicles isnt an easy thing to make happen and the guys are doing their absolute best to get this up and going.

Im just really glad that these guys are prepared to take this on (like what Sam keck did with Bathurst) Basically all Im doing is sitting on my arse in Qld and praying - we just need this to happen no matter what the level. Next year is going to be massive!!

The cold doesn't worry us QLDers, most of us are born with abnormally large "johnson's" to allow for plenty of shrinkage in cold weather.

I know that most people that are into wheeling are into alot of other forms of motor sports like the V8's. But really the date that we are after is for one year only. It's not like this will be the date for round 3 for the rest of the comp series life.

I have been going to bathurst for the last 3 years and watched it for every year before, But I want this comp to grow, cause I want to drive.

So if I have to miss the bathurst 1000 for one year then thats fine, sure afew of the prospective spectators will decided to stay home and watch the V8's on TV, but the die hard 4by fans will be there
