100,000kms service on v6 triton
i have got my car in for its 100000 service at the moment. it is going to cost me just over 1100 including oil change in both diffs transfer and box as well as new tappet cover gaskets and an engine flush (in an attempt to reduce the dreaded tappet noise) does this seem reasonable? to me it seems a bit over the top ......................... but everyone i got a quote off was withing 100 dollars
Hey badger,
100k service should include changing the timing belt which is a bit fiddly but can be done in a couple of hours. Also a good idea to fit new camshaft seals as they can go hard and leak. Some places also change the water pump as it's easier to do at the same time. Rocker cover gasket change can also take a while. A fair bit cleaning up sometimes. To pay someone else to do it would probably cost a fair penny so the price seems fair.

Shorty Gen2, lots of stuff and more to come!
Hi badger, just had my 75,000... Was told the 90,000 would cost around $900 because the timing belt requires changing. That was Knox Mitsubishi in Melbourne. Out of curiosity, where are you and what have you been paying for your servicing? My minors have been around $143, had a major while on hols in Darwin, cost me $175 ish with a fully itemised report... Seems TOO cheap for dealer servicing, not sure if it has something to do with the leasing company's arrangements.
i have been paying about the same as you for servicing from the ford dealership i bought my car off of second hand. but i found there service to be poor so i am now getting ABS in brendale- brisbane to do mine. they replaced my clutch mastery cylinder and slave a few months bac n did a good job so i guess ill see how it goes this time
Unfortunately I'm bound to Mitsu servicing by my lease agreement... So for now I just kid myself that they're doing a top job...badger wrote:i have been paying about the same as you for servicing from the ford dealership i bought my car off of second hand. but i found there service to be poor so i am now getting ABS in brendale- brisbane to do mine. they replaced my clutch mastery cylinder and slave a few months bac n did a good job so i guess ill see how it goes this time
As with most servicing for the 90k > 100k u will b up for many things.
At that mark the triton is up for several things :
# timing belt (possible will need other items here as well, like - water pump, cam seals, Crank seal, belts, pulley bearings etc)
# spark plugs (platnium type)(to get to these u have to remove the plenium chamber)
# while u got the plenium off u should think about changing the rocker cover gaskets (2) and spark plug tube seals (6)..(could even consider getting the injectors cleaned while u r right there)
Add all these items to a 100k service and it will be pricey..
(u may include in the service, all oils<engine/diffs/gearbox/transfer>, replacing engine coolant, brake/clutch fluids, power steer fluid, wheel bearing repack the list goes on)
In short if u want your vehicle to be around for another 100k then u need to look after it.. This includes regular servicing (5000k intervals)....
