Will I be able to engineer my SOA

I have a FJ40 that I have been Modifying over the last couple of years. I am about halfway through a SOA convertion. I was told by a fellow 4X4 driver that as from 1st June 2005 I will no longer be able to engineer this vehicle unless it has been engineered on anything else before this date, which it has not. Hoping that this is not true. Can someone shed same light on this. I am located in NSW

Speak to an engineer, there might be a loophole in the RTA's rules.

I got all stressed when i read off this board that the rules were gonna change as of end of may - it made me pull my finger out and do it though.

I rang rta tech support numerous times, they knew nothing, i rang engineers, they hadn't heard anything either.

It wouldn't surprise me if they do change the law one day, so i'd advise to keep at it and get it done asap - eng and rego, leave out stuff which can be done after rego. Even if the rule doesn't change, it's good knowing yours is done.

I hate rumours.....

A couple of guys around here have had their SOA and coiled cars engineered since June without any problems... As far as I know there hasn't been any changes yet to the rules but there is still talk that the RTA will change but know one seems to know when.... just soon is the answer I keep getting...

Screwwy is getting his SOA soon, and has not heard from any one that the SOA will be un engineerable, my suggestion is ring an engineer, there is a list in the tech bible or PM Screwy and ask who he is using as he is over at camden, not so far from your neck of the woods

last i heard Screwy was using Consulmotive, located in Peakhurst as he couldnt find any one local, ive had my GQ done at consulmotive, and the bloke is strict, but you know its done properly,

I wonder if anyone could recommend a engineer in South West sydney area. What was consulmotive engineers like Ozy1.

Go to Consulmotive, he did my SOA 40s.

The engineers list in the tech Bible lists all engineers. Ring them and ask, you will find some will tell you not a chance others will waste your time.

Consulmotive sees a few SOAs so he knows what he is looking at.

Consulmotive is v good and v thorough.

He won't let you get away with much, when I had my 100 engineered he 'failed' a GQ cause the track was out by more then the allowed amount. (as he should)

Spoke to consulmotive and he reconds that if the new rta laws came in then all previous engineered cars will have to comply with new laws. Just going to finish soa conversion on my 4wd and worry about rta laws later. Have to do it sooner rather than later

when I bought my 40 series cruiser 2 years ago ,I spoke to the rta guy about the soa on the car to make sure it was legal and so on before buying it...He told me that the soa was perfectly legal and didnt need an engineers certificate at all...The vehicle has also passed rego inspection 2 years running no probs without certificates,engineering etc...
