85 2.4 Hilux Single Cab reliability?

just wondering if someone could give me some advice on these older models.

how reliable were they, and would one be now days if i get it looked over and all looks ok?

were the a 3 seater? the front beach seat looks wide enough for 3 people?

and how would one go in the sand?

Mat ei got an 84 lux, 2.4 diesil. By now the would have a bit of rust normally if used on or round the beach u but as long as you are handy with a welder, thats no probs. (fixed my floor with a bit of $2 sheet metal from junk market and half a day!!). The only prob i have had so far is with my glow plugs but this engine has 315 000kmls on it and stilll goin strong. IT has handle everything i threw at it so far including towing cars from Indian Heads crossin at Fraser Island. they are slow but will get you there!

i got one i flog the crap outt of it and it keeps going had a broken pisten and it still ran well enuf to drive use heaps off oil tho its only ever let em down 1 tiem were i could not drive it and all it was is that the cluch fork locator bolt broke and the cluch jamed on coast 5 bux and half a day to fix
