tyre brand

my feroza is in need of some new shoes, anyone heard about the 'Maxis' (i'm sure thats what they where) brand of tyre?
Quickfit up here have some for $150 each (31x 10.5), they look like a decent tyre, not as an agressive tread as a a/t goodyear etc.

They're supposed to be a quite resonable brand in on road car tyres. One of their models did very well in a Motor magazine test recently.

I've read some good stuff about their off road tyres too.

yeah, found a little on google about them. few people in 4wd forums saying they have them and thought they where prity good, but cant find anyone mentioning that seems to of used them extensively.
$150 a tyre is with-in my budget at the moment, might give them a go.

I just put a deposit on a set of Coopers AT 235/70R15 rubbers. Apparently they're not so easy to get now as Coopers changes over to the new tread pattern/s. $200each, plus I have to (want to) get a spare.

I just threw a set of 225/70r15 cooper ATR on mine... Fantastic handling on and off road, and expect to get a few years outta em

Maxxis tyres are pretty good. They started off in the Push Bike Tyre industry believe it or not! They made good push bike tyres too. However, you can get some 31X10.5XR15 Simex centerpede MT's for $165. I have a set and love them.

I was at a tyre place in Slacks Creek not long ago and he had 30" Triangle AT's for $120 a corner brand new. I've never heard of them before but I had a look and they looked pretty good. Prob not as aggressive as some other more popular brands but for the price I was impressed! Does brand really matter? I mean if you can save $60-$80 per tyre that's a fair saving.

What are your thoughts? Anyone heard of these before? I have seen only one 4WD with them on so far.

The MT's are apparently pretty good. Wear rate is a bit quick, but on a ligth car, should be the goods. You can get 33's for $220 ea

well i've got it booked in for wednesday morning for a set of the Maxis tyres, guess i'll find out how they wear etc.

Just had the coopers (235/70R15) fitted, may my old set rot in tyre hell, or come back as cricketers box liners or equivalent.

Anyway, in addition to having an actual contact surface with the road, the feroza has gained an extra bit of much desired altitude (~25mm over the crud I had fitted). Torque loss at the bottom is minimal, cruising speed is MUCH nicer, No rubbing or scrubbing happening... I'm a happy camper.

Now to focus on that #%&$% driveline vibration.

from wat i can remember from my mountain biking days maxxis were one of the best.
as for the the buckshots id choose them ova the bfgs, personaly.
ive had bad experiences with bfg muddies

I've got BFG A/T's on the feroza and would not recommend them. They are very dangerous on wet roads. I've been thinking about selling both my bfg's and my wild country muds and getting a set of those new cooper STT's

My Cooper A/Ts (old model, not new ATR) are excellent in the dry, in fact better than my old Bridgestone H/T! Wet weather on road they probably could be a bit better, but are predictable and only start to let go when driving aggressively (ie. entering roundabouts too fast or flooring it midway through a roundabout.)

Off road I'm really happy with them (for an A/T).

Post up a review of the Maxis once you've got them and had a chance to test them out a bit.

ive got a set of all country m/t tyres 235/75/15 on mine now been on there for nearly a year and have hardly worn. in the dry there good but in the wet you need to slow down a little, but most mud tyres are like that. cant argue with the price either at $120 ea

i'll be putting my front diff back in today (finaly), so i'll be able to head off road again on my w/ends off when i'm not busy.
living 40 mins outta town makes for lots of hi-way driving to work and back, so i hopefuly they wear well on the bitumen.

Sad news about the new set of coopers is that it seems that the 'minor loss of torque' means that my days of blowing away punks at the lights and making them all agro are over. :(

I have a set of 235/75R15 Maxxis 751 AT tyres on My Scat. They are good in the sand but mud seems to stuff them like all All-Terrain tyres. I haven't done enough km's to say how good they are. They are good on price but the ones I got are only 5 ply (a bit of a down side).

Unlock front hubs ..... select low range 4WD..... floor it off the lights and change gears quick as you can! Should be good for holding them off up to 60km/h!

I stopped by RockWare afterdriving the truck for a few days since they put on a steering stabilizer for a report. A Guy next door had this low rider super charged Tacoma (2wd) with lots of plastic fairings. I had heard it drive by a few times and it sounds like a jet turbine. So I went next door and talked to the guy. It dyno's at 475hp (354.21kw) and running 8lbs of boost. He said that some extractors were going on and 3" exhaust this week for over 500hp (372.85kw) and 12 pound of boost. It all went over the top of my head and didn't know what he was talking about most of the time.

What brought this up is hp or the lack of it. I wish that I could afford the TRD unit for my engine. I have gone from around 68kw (for seven years) to around 127kw and that is pretty nice. But.... Bigger tyres call for more hp.

kent, its slang for speaking aussie english. believe theres a debate on it on the forum somewhere. not sure how to find it but it is rather interesting. did it as a bit of a joke and i guess not many people got it or jus dont want to say anything?
