STRATHBOGIE RANGES NAVRUN- 3-4th Sep
Fast approaching is our next Navrun for this year. This will be the second last Navrun for this year, the last one being held at Noojee in November.
The Strathbogie Ranges near Mansfield is the base area.
Like with all our Navruns, it is not a timed event therefore your insurance and TAC is not affected, and our events are for families, noviices, club orientated vehicles and the hardcore guys. You don't need a modified vehicle to compete. There are no restrictions on your vehicles except it must be road registered.
We now include a variety of different stages and courses, not only the use of our cameras all the time. We have made this event more and more challenging for navigating. Each Navrun is always different so you don't get bored with the same event.
More info on the above and our other events can be found on our website:
www.navrun.com.au or you can phone Rudi on 03 9789 6985
Regards...............

Strathbogie
The last time I did Strathbogies was Friday night of the Stump Hill Ateco. Got in so late we missed b'fast.
There's some mean mother tracks out there. Will have a bit of everything for everyone. The soft roaders can avoid the extreme stuff and the nutters can get their rocks off.
Going to toss some tricky stuff into this one. Like your sheet will have just 5 waypoints but there are 20 photos to get - go figure...

Pete,
You gotta get another job - seems they won't let you out on weekends anymore.
Re the Vic Winch if they don't give you the time off give them the flick.
They are cramping your style, dude...

getting time off for the navrun is alot easier, but vic winch is hard, as my manager is on holidays during that time, so i will be manager. but navrun would just be swap saturday for the monday.

Hobzee and I were talking about this event on the way to Avoca on Sunday. There is a maze of tracks in this area. Perfect for a long 'stick map' accompanied by a 'route map' to confuse the nav side of it even more. We have also some other courses never used before planned.
Cannot wait.
We have already 14 teams entered 6 positions left.

Stick mag
I know how Paul and Wombat think. They were confused with the concept of a stick map - if it were a stick mag they would be onto it. With that in mind I might have to sex it up a bit...

Team needs another vehicle
A team competing in the Strathbogie Navrun needs another vehicle. They are locals and that's their playground if that helps. This is their first Navrun as well, so experienced or inexperienced is most welcome.

nav run
I have been hit up with people wanting to know haw hard this is going to be.
There will be some really tough tracks and there will be GPS points at the bottom and top. The keen guys can get their jollies and drive / winch up. That may be quick given they don't break. The less keen ones can come in from the bottom to a point at the bottom, then take the chicken route or drive the long way around to come in from the top and get the top point. Maybe they do it in reverse and drive down, instead of up (it doesn't matter). There won't be any shots in a compromising situation half way up a cliff face.
I don't like water damage to vehicles so I will try to keep you out of deep stuff.

Maybe pay your entry fee.........
Just got back finishing the set up of the Strathbogie Navrun. The terrain out there is quite unusual and it should wet everyone's appetite. Although there will be a few challenging tracks no one should have much problem negotiating them. Hobzee did them in his new vehicle (60 series, 31" & leaf springs). The terrain varies from red slippery clay, to rocky areas with large rock outcrops everywhere. The camp ground is fantastic. Nice and green, flowing large creek alongside it, tables, fireplaces and very clean toilets. 15 minutes away is the township of Swanpool with fuel & general store. Their is also a caravan park near Swanpool (20 minutes from our base camp), in which you may want to stay.
Karri caravan Park, RMB 1612 Midland Highway, LIMA SOUTH VIC 3673 Phone (03) 57682416
Still a couple of spots left. Log on to our website www.navrun.com.au or phone 03 9789 6985
Cheers, Rudi

shit hot weekend
Another grrrreat Nav Run.
Rudi and I are doing the scores tonight - bribes close at 7.30pm - Eileen, yes I got your message.
All teams will get the answers and hopefully the photos back - corrected.
My gut feel - Atoc were doing well, as were Surtees/Partridge and Dilligaf. VAT were on the pace too - bonus points to brad for steering with his Armstrong steering enhancement.
The radar certainly slows you lot down. Rudi said he didn't catch anyone on day 2 because he couldn't find any one. We suggested more compulsory waypoints at certain times so we can get ready for you - maybe we call them the "Under the Radar" waypoints.
Good to see some normal 4WD's such as jackaroo, hilux and a brand spanker GU off the factory floor. We are going to promote nav run to suit such vehicles. People seemed more confident knowing I set the course in a 60 series - just wait!
Where did all the caravans come from. Base camp looked like a caravan park.
Hope all the fathers got their father's day presents (special cuddles) last night...

Thanks Rudi and Hobzee for a great event. It was an excellent campsite and great food catered by the Wanderin 4 wheelers. We didn't have any problems with the navigation side of things; just need to make sure that the photos are better next time. It's a pity we had to retire early after Duane's GU had clutch problems, but the upside was points gained with the family for getting home early.
Looking forward to Noojee. I'll take my car this time, but I'll have to train Team DFU how to navigate if I'm driving!
