HELLO!
Is there anybody who can tell me which brands of gearbox (other than the original) are compatible for the Feroza F300 year 1990?

You don't state whether your's is going out or not so I assume that it is.

I don't think that there are any others that will work. A custom bell housing could be made or a spacer custom made betweeing the engine block and the bell housing of a different transmission.

You couldn't use your transfer case with another transmission so you would be looking at a transmission and transfer case...probably not the drive shafts either and they would have to be modified.

I looked into it rather extensively and couldn't come up with anything that I could afford.

I broke one transmission and two transfer cases then instead of using Daihatsu I went to Toyota drive train. Couldn't afford that either but it is better (stronger) and cheaper parts.

Probably the best thing to do is to find a good one at a slavage yard or have your's rebuilt.

I'll have to study all the technical terms you are using, as I am not an expert and, moreover, English is not my mother tongue.
Anyway, I just fear that my gearbox will soon stop working, as it sometimes makes a strange noise and days ago the reverse motion refused to enter, it went completely void, and then unexpectedly reverted to normal functioning. It's extremely difficult here in Italy to find a Feroza at a scrap dealer's (is it what you call a slavage yard?) and original spare parts have impossible prices. Anyway, thank you again for your valuable help. Hope my gear will keep working... Bye!

What sort of noise is the gearbox making and when? Mine makes a bit of noise in second and third gear at high revs- but it's been doing that for over two years and hasn't "let go" yet. I found changing the oil to a higher quality has made it a lot better for noise and shifting in cold weather.

It's possible to buy bearing kits to rebuild the gearboxes too.

The noise is a sort of trembling or vibration inside. I noticed it in second and fourth gear. Hope it won't let go like yours!

My gearbox is still running fine. I was told by my mechanic it is just worn due to the previous owner not getting the gearbox oil changed when required. I now run Redline Shockproof Lightweight Gearbox oil in it- this has made it a lot better. I experimented with other oils, but found the Redline to be by far the best.

CORRECT: Had a look at www.redlineoil.com and there is a distributor in Italy WOW!

Sometimes The Daihatsu transmission wouldn't go into reverse. Sometimes the toyota transmission won't go into reverse either. Just put it in first gear and pull forward a little bit then it should go into reverse. The synchros get a little misaligned.

I can't really recommend anything else- the others I tried weren't too good.

Can you order it from somewhere over the internet ? (not sure how you'd go with freighting oils?)

You can also piut an additive into the gearbox oil to remove some synchro mishaps and funny noises.. I used it in my Subaru...

'Nulon Gearbox Treatment'... Its good for gearboxes and noisy diffs.. And comes in a squeezey tube.. real good stuff

i do have that noisy gearbox.. yeah got that nulon gearbox treatment.. will be putting it in this weekend.. hopefully it goes all good. I usually use castrol oil.
