lux diffs => jimny

Post by bozwon »

at the moment  lux diffs  are looking like the best way 2 go with my jimny.

they are stronger
have better gear ratios (4.56:1)
bigger better brakes
easier 2 get parts for.

does anyone know what sort of issues im gonna have with the swap?
6" springs will be fitted
a 3" body lift will go in.

the fuel tank looks like it will have 2 be moved up or replaced as the diff centre is not offset like the jimny.

new trailing arms will be made and fitted.

The transfer case will be remounted on an angle 2 suit the diff centres. (a sierra case with s3 rock hoppers is going 2 be fitted even if the diffs are not changed)

new drive shafts will be required.

i am yet 2 figure out exactly how the steering will work.

new brake lines will be required.

does anyone know any other problems or can confirm any of these as well as fixes for the problems

thanks

Why u need the BL?

what size tyres are u planning

Bundera diffs already have coils so may be better for ya.

I think you'd be surprised just what a jimny won't fit. A mate has 4" spring + 2" body and just fits 31's without major rub. I'm not sure how much guard is disposable though :D

Already done.....need to the 3" B/L to run 32's as the Jimnys flex quite well and you need the well space. Still have to cut out some guard though.

No problems with engineering as long as it's done well and your brake lines are extended.

Don't put Yota bits on a Suzuki.....it's like trying to pass off Macca's as a wedding feast :D

9" of lift plus the 4" for the spoa = 13" plus the increase in tyre size makes for an incredibly tall and scary car that will perform like sh*t. You may want to research this alot more before you get too far in

why do you get 4" of lift for spoa? :?

dont the coils allready sit on the top of the housing from factory?

the only extra lift i would of thought you would get is the diference in housing thicknesses which is probly only 10mm anyhow

thanks for everones input thus far

nicbeer
look at the pics. thats 5" springs and a 2" bl
the bundy mounts dont line up and have different spring sizes and rates so custom hats will be fabricated. so already being coil is no advantage

v8zuki
The offset will help. i thaught that they were all centred so ill look into this.

bazooked
I was thinking of stretching the wheelbase by around 4 inches. 2 each end

RBZOOK
you have pm

SiKiD_01
3" bl is available off the shelf and is engineerable

redzook
i simply dont have the clearance
prolly just 33's
35's max

-Mick-
not much is disposable without cutting the floor and plating the area or realignment with a large hammer

Squik
i thaught you would say something like that. the swap is for economical reasons mainly.
brake upgrades are to expensive for the jimny. ant my brakes just dont stop the car well enough. that and if i have 2 give the local suzuki dealer any more money im gonna snap. im a mechanic and they wont give me trade price or decent service.
cvs may also be an issue later on 33's
i want more wheelbase and if in gonna make custom bits i may as well do it right the 1st time

grimbo
no comment required

ZOOK60
correct. that and the difference in hat height. + the difference in radius of the diff tubes

roc box
i was thinkin that stretch it 2 inches front n rear.
with the front bar. a new/modified rear bar and the change in body mount we should be right.

it looks like getting bundy diffs might be the way 2 go. it will mean i can keep the transfer case straight and not be bothred about the fuel tank either.

the body is no longer being lifted. the springs will as they have a better spring rate.

steering will be easy 2 fix

still dont know how the drive shafts will need to be modified
