Rotating tyres, what do you do?

Everybody seems to have their own opinion on how to do this.......

What like to know how people do it....

My approach is to start the car, release the handbrake, depress the clutch, put the car in gear, release the clutch (slowly), and start driving.

This gets my tyres rotating well. Sometimes they rotate very quickly!

Seriously, it depends on whether you're including the spare or not (ie do you have a matched spare?), and whether your tyres are directional or not.

yeah i was expecting a smartarse comment from somebody.....

interested in methods including spare and not.......and reasons for both.....

i think many new tyres are non-directional........i know my new coopers are....

check out the michelin .au site it has the method for
1.full time four wheel drive
2. rear wheel drive
3.front wheel drive
mine is ftfwd so LR-LF, LF-RR, RR-RF AND RF-LR

I never rotated my old set of bfg muddies and I got about 80000 or just over on them so I figure why bother :D

Depends whether tyres are directional or not. Obviously theres not many choices then. I usually just go from front to back. I dont really touch the spare. I used to do a bit of work at one of the local tyre joints, and i was told that steel radial tyres shouldn'y be rotated to run in the opposite direction to original, as the steel belts set to "fold" one way, and to make them fold back the other way can cause them to bolge out and form imperfections.

I dont rotate.

1986 RR.
Custom suspension links etc.
HSV 215 engine.
4.3 diffs.

I just turned all my tyres on the rims and rotated. Front passgr side became spare as it always seems to wear the fastest.
Weekdays - Prado GXL D4D with some stuff
Weekends - Mav shorty with lots of stuff
