has anyone done a conversion like this b4 ...i know the V8 has been done...it sounds silly putting a V6 in place of a V8 but the advantages that i can see are:
hugely improved fuel economy
lower registration costs
close power figures :
258nm@2500 / 112KWs@4750 RR 85'
293nm@3600 / 127KWs VP - V6
cheap to get parts for
cheap motor and gearboxes - $1200 aprox..
reliability and ease of diagnosing problems - fault codes / limp home mode
EFI ! - no more carby problems on angles or on hot days
smaller motor - lighter?
stronger gearboxes
im just suggesting this as a conversion...i havent really done any research however i did have a hilux with one of these motors and it went like a shower of Shit. !

just watch the fuel economy. imo they get good economy in a commodore
only when used on the highway as they will go into self tune. when fitted to a bigger less aero vehical they may not do this as you could be running on a power region of the fuel map. (when cruising on the HWY)

Bear in mind the commodore has the torque peak 1100rpm higher.
Bolting in a 3.9EFI would be easier (and possibly cheaper), and give you better power and torque in a 4x4 (especially offroad).

Marks 4x4 adaptors make a kit for a disco to put a commo v6 in. I thought about it cause i got a hydro turbo700 (wit manual valve body and cable shifter ) on the floor of my garage jus waiting to be used. Great to be put in my rangie out in the yard rusting away (its okay, they are aluminium). Decent power and economy.
