G'day guys new to the site and lovin it, I've just bought an 80 series with arb turbo and arb air lockers front and rear, What i would like to know is your recommended oils for the Engine , gearboxs and the diffs. Thanks for you time Travo.

Gearbox grated in cold weather- basically made it a PITA to drive. Yes, it was the correct viscosity too. Castrol VMX 80 which is made for cold shift problems wasn't much better. A mix of ATF and VMX 80 was passable but the box was very noisy and still grated sometimes. Redline Shockproof Lightweight totally transformed it and the noises have all but vanished .

Rimula X - overkill for my old bus but would meet the requirements for your engine, i get it in 20l drums, cheaper.
Do a search on magnesium and calcium soap oils, pretty sure one is good for jap motors one not so good, worked out that the Rimula X was ok and Castrol RX Super was not, it (RX) was better for american diesels (cat, cummins etc)
