MQ, 60 or lux

turbos are nice but i'd rather be blown
MQ diffs - strong, heavy, large pumpkin on rear, lockers available, 4.625 ratio all available factory, spring spacing the same as WT sierra. They do have a cast spring pearch/tube/knuckle on the RHS front which can be a PITA to weld to but it is do able.
60 series - WIDE, CV strength might be and issue if you're running huge tyres, 4.1 ratio plentiful
Hilux - Common conversion, need to do some form of high steer as the J arm sucks and don't believe it would work on a sierra anyway. This adds to cost. CV strength as with 60 series. Many members here have these diffs, only one has had a problem with a busted CV from what i know, this may have just been worn out.
Everything will break or let you down if not maintained and driven accordingly. The MQ diffs have been great under my car and LJEXTREME'S. Neither of us respect our rigs.
The only issue that i've had was punching a rock through the rear cover plate. Simply made a stronger one.
Well I'm guessing that they didn't think everyone would carry on like a big bunch of sooky girls over it like they have........
hilux and 60s run the same cv joints as far as i knowsierrajim wrote:MQ diffs - strong, heavy, large pumpkin on rear, lockers available, 4.625 ratio all available factory, spring spacing the same as WT sierra. Why do you need heavier duty axles for MQ diffs with the weight of a zook on top of them?1MadEngineer wrote:you can't buy 30spline chromo longs for a nissan and there are way more ratios available for a hilux
Sierra 5 speed, series 3's and 4.6 ratio MQ (factory ratio) ends up at a little over 100:1 crawl ratio. Why do you need lower? If you do buy the 8:1 gears out of the US.
MQ diffs do need/should be shaved for better clearance. From memory LJEXTREME shaved his to around sierra pumpkin clearance. Or go MQ front and Navara rear same ratio but Navara has smaller pumpkin.
