Can anyone tell me exactly what the the timing mark for tdc looks like. Installing distributor and I do not seen any mark on crank pulley? I do see 2 small holes spaced slightly apart on side of crank pulley. Any help or pictures greatly appreciated. I am new to setting ignition timing and I am not quite sure what to see aligned to marker from cover. Have looked at manual but need further information. Thanks....

Timing Mark TDC
Moderator: Tiny
Try looking with a timing light when the engine is idling (with the vac advance disconnected). You should see a mark on the harmonic balancer spot in the middle of the timing indicator on the block (if the timing is on 3 degrees BTDC as per factory specs.) Make sure the idle is stable at 800 -850 RPM too or the advance weights inside the distributor will affect the timing; also turn off all electrical loads and do it when the engine is warm.

Well, that's the problem. When i took the distributor out, I turned the rotor button by accident and have no idea where it should be at to reinsert distributor so that i 've got it right. If I put the distributor in and attempt starting will it harm the engine? I have never had to mess with timing/ignition issues before and I am unfamiliar with this. Not afraid to learn though. Unfortunately I usually about things after screwing them up and having to correct it. Any advice?
bro, ur dizzy can only fit in one way... so its gonna take you a while to get that notch to line up perfically.... but its doable...
nearly took me 2 hrs on my first attempt...
if you didnt change the timing between ur cam and ur crank, then your fine. jus slide the dizzy in and keep repositioning that notch until it finally goes in all the way. then you should be set.
if you DID change the timing between the cam and the crank, then thats a different issue to deal wth, not related to the dizzy.
any more questions? feel free to ask!
