Moderator: -Scott-
does my aircon need a overhaul??
Mitsu has sent my aircon to a specialist and I have been told that it needs an overhaul to replace the bearings in it. $700 dollars all up to fix, replace and regas.

sorry bout the double double post
yeh true that, on the wkend it obviously hadnt rained for a while in the wattos where we were and the roads were dusty as, then i can understand for the aircon, but endless air is tempting, i dunno, i dont seem to be able to justify $700 for air, when u could use it for something else, but then its nice to have, so what do you do i guess

Try the wreckers!!! I picked up a full genuine system from a roll over for less than $350. You should be able to get a good second hand unit for less. Just make sure that the system hasn't been open to air. Plug it up so no air can get in. Either fit it yourself or have an air con dude do it. I fitted up my system, serviced the compressor, fitted a new condenser and the took it to a friend of a friend who vaccumned out the system and then recharged it. It's been in service for well over a year with not a problem.
PS: Yes it does get hot in Tassie some days, but aircon is good for demisting too!!!!!!
