Rancho shocks with OME kit

Post by Neetas »

Hi - I'm looking at pairing some Rancho rear shocks with OME coils and struts on a 5 door grand vitara. Subject to 4WD1 recommending the correct shocks for my application are there any other things I need to consider. Any feedback from existing users of Rancho with other manufacturer coils (apart from Tough Dog). Thks

Ranchos

Post by ledgno1 »

Hey,

I have just completed a 3.5 inch lift on my 97 LWB V6 - as a result of getting the wrong springs and shocks it's taken almost 2 months to get it right - however now it is spot on and i couldn't be happier.

I have 3.5 lifted allsprings (great rate) with OME front struts and KYB rear shocks. I originally had Ranchos on the back but they turned out to be the wrong ones and had to be returned. In the time that i had them however they were way to heavy duty for the Vit, even on the softest setting with 4 up + luggage everyone was wanting new fillings and the toilet!!! :D

The RS9000 are only made in 1 bore diameter and for me they were a gross overkill! Now i have some KYB's on which are 590mm fully extended and give a nice compliant ride and only cost me $150 for the pair.

So my advice is save your money and just buy another good brand of shock with the right length that you are looking for. ;)

As I've said before the RS5000 ranchos label as being for sierras are too stiff and too short

I will be replacing mine

I'm running RS5000 with 50mm allsprings and find them pretty stiif unless your loaded up. Lucky I'm only 10minutes to work as a daily driver so I can live with it .Up front I have the softer GV OME struts and they work OK.
