Try looking in www.redbook.com.au and then beat them down. The gearbox won't be cheap and you may have trouble finding one.

Red book is useless mate - has only a reflection on new shiney or straight trouble free vehicles.... that won't cover this on.

$600
a good buy you recon? I might just sell it if I don't like it - would i get that in parts ya recon?

mate, 600 is a steal. I spent 1500 rebuilding mine(the Gbox that is), and alos had reco diesel recently put in, and its going strong. What year is it. Mines 84. Is it turbo? DX/EX??

And whats wrong with the gearbox? It may be a simplier fix than the current owner knows about.
Id guess around the grand would be a purchase price, and be prepaired to spend that again for a recoed gearbox, maybe a little less for a second hand one. They are still available round the wreckers.

Hmmmm

Sounds like to much messing about so I guess I will just sell it again to get my money back. (downside of buying first, thinking second and asking questions last)

I will move it from my mates place next week n sell it off thru here or trading post I guess.

Thanks for the advice fellahs.

So you've already bought it- and now are going to sell it without even looking into a gearbox price?! :?

AH???

Post by Patroldude »

Basically yes - I don't care but - I satisfied my impulse truck buying for now ;) I got quoted $700 for a second hand unit and $1200 reco - twice what I paid for it and I don't have another $800 to rego it. Rather get my other trucks cleaned out - I am a bit over playing with em every weekend - would rather be wheeling than building hey.

LEarning experience.

If anyone wants it PM me or wait for it in for sale section next week?
