there is a distinct possibility that i'm going to have to move to QLD from VIC, and i want to know how hard is it going to be to make my jimny leagal in this state.
the jimny has an 80mm lift (tough dog) and 30"x9.5/15's on 7" alloy wheels, there is also a detroit EZ locker in the back.
is the tyre size too big for a suzuki?
what about the rim size?
will they let me keep my lift?
i'm unsure as what is involved when changing reg from one state to another anyway, will they inspect the zook? or whats the go?
i only need informative advice, thats acurate from your expariences
mitch

The official QLD transport guidelines state that you can only go 15mm in diameter larger than the largest wheel fitted to the vehicle. You may be able to get bigger sizes engineered but it is not easy.
For the lift, you are not alowed to alter bump or rebound travel by more than 1/3 of the original measurement.
However, if the Jimny is fully engineered in VIC, there are some instances where people have come from down south and QLD transport has registered the vehicle as engineered without problems. But best to get official clarification on that position in writing from QLD transport.

The locker shouldnt cause you any problems. There are heaps of Suzi's getting round with 30's on. It seems to be tolerated. And if its only spring lift, it mat get through too. No guarantees, but I would shop around, ask a few inspection places, perhaps ones with modded 4wd's parked outside, if it would pass. See if you can get a loan of a set of wheels and tyres for the inspection.
Mud makes excellent toothpaste.
Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I read somewhere that if it has been engineered and registered for two years in another state, then that is acceptable (done to stop ppl "popping over the border" to get mods done)ISUZUROVER wrote:The official QLD transport guidelines state that you can only go 15mm in diameter larger than the largest wheel fitted to the vehicle.
