Is there any difference between a GQ carby fuel tank and a GQ fuel injected tank?
Also, does the carby tank have a large swirl pot in it?
Am fuel injecting a carby car and need to know if i require a surge tank or not...

as far as i know they are all the same just different pickups. i used a vl pump on mine but you could use a gu petrol one as they are also around 30psi. i used a diesel tank but as you know i never off roaded my conversion

yeah that was my only concern, if the tank got down to like a quater and i was on a stupid angle on a hill the last thing i want is for the pump to cavitate cause it cant get any fuel cause its all in the bottom of the tank.
But on a plus side, got a vl pump lined up, decided to get brand new dizzy and module to prevent any stuffups with a dodgy old one and i've organised that dude to do the dizzy! Everything is falling into place nicely

if your worried about it cutting out on stupid angle, ever thought of using a surge tank to prevent such problems. small tank in fuel system that always remains full unless you run out of fuel but should stop surging problems on side angles and inclines.

yeah thats what i was thinking the solution to my problem will be if there is an issue. but i dont wanna go to the hassle of getting a low pressure pump, surge tank and rigging up lines if it aint necissary, just gonna run the tank low once i get it all set up in a controlled environment (a hill 5 mins from my house) and see what happens....thanks for the idea thou

It is a 95lt tank with nothing in it. Bar a little splash/slosh stopper around the pickup. There are no baffles. well wasnt exactly what i wanted to hear but thanks for the info turps, might have to look deeper into this surge tank thing then...
to grinch, its a 95 litre tank so yeah nothing in it like turps says. but when you put the low pressure pump in did you just chuck it in the tank or did you need to mount it up with anything.
thinking if i just get a cheap low pressure inline pump feeding into a surge tankfrom the top, then have the high pressure pump sucking from the bottom and the return line from the injectors feeding to the top of the surge tank and another return at the highest point of the tank feeding back to the main fuel tank that may solve my troubles.... ah i'll see what happens once i bolt it all up and i test it thoroughly before any spastic hills.

Are you sure mine had nothing in other than a small pot like thing, which is about 3" high. The LRT had fuckin HEAPS of baffles in it too, also had that pot thing
i had a lot of problems when i first injected my car . it had the external vl pump and no pot. it would play up on angles .
now i have a external pot . pump mounted inside tank feed the pot then out of the bottom of the pot a high pressure pump supplies the engine . i have had this on its side and it still runs.
my opinion is while you are doing the job do it correct then you want have any problems.

Well there you go all mine had is the swirl pot thing. But do agree prick of a job trying to jam a LRT back into that hole. And I dont plan on doing again in the sort term.
