Ant and I were both really happy with our shocks. Dont have to use rancho which are mainly suited to much heavier vehicles.

Try having a hunt through antt and I's posts

Hey Cav,

I have just recently put in my 2" inch raised springs into my SWB 92 Vit, which Aldo from Allsprings made up for me. The general consesus seems to be that 2 in suspension lift should be as high as you should go. You will probably get away with 2.5". You should only go 3 inches if you get the Calmini kit as I believe it drops your front diff 2 inches.

I am using rear VT Commodore shocks which needed to be modified to fit the mount. All that needs doing is cutting the original mount down to the right width and you need to make a sleeve to take up some slack as the hole in the shock mount is too wide in the VT Shock. It was easy for me as my dad is a toolmaker and he took it to work and did it all in 20 minutes. You could probably take it to any metal shop and they will do it for you for next to nothing.

I used the OME Struts up front which my car desperately needed as the original struts were really worn.

I have found the ride to be much smoother than previously. Before when I would hit a bump I would feel it but now I either won't feel it or i'll bounce right over it.

This lift after 3 weeks or so has settled to just over 2in. I have a set of 30" road tyres which actually measure 28.5" (Plan on getting some muddies as soon as the budget allows). They only scrub on the front right at the back of the guard (on that plastic thing that screws up into the panel) and only when on an angle and at almost full lock. They only scrub because the plastic is bent out of place a bit because of an old accident I had. That reminds me I should fix that today.

Originally I planned on doing a 1" body lift as it is the easiest to do, but since the suspension has gone I have changed my mind and have ordered a 2" body lift kit from Rocky Road Outfitters (US) I know if I did the 1 inch BL I would regret not going the extra inch. It's quite addictive.

Here is the original thread I started before doing the lift. It also has some before and after shots.

Have fun mate. And ask heaps of questions, the advice you get on here can come in very handy.

Cheers

I had Ranchos in the back of my GV, with OMEs up front. Personally, I wouldn't bother with the Ranchos again. Go with what Beastmavster suggested.

pics pics pics - sounds alot like mine!. :)

found your link.. cool. always thought the swb would better in the sand than the 4 door.. mine is just a little high gearing without a different diff ratio. (or underpowered however you choose to look at it)... but still GOOD..
