Problem with the Jimny
Problem with the Jimny
Hello guys.
I noticed that my wife's Jimny expeles a lot of white fume every morning or every time it is parked for a long time. It is not the kind of fumes related to a cold weather. It has a strange smell too, like burning rubber (not like oil burning), but it is only for like 5 seconds and after that it doesn't happen anymore.
I checked the oil level and it's correct, also chequed the radiator fluid looking for evidence of oil or soemthing else.
The car performs all right, and everything else is in good woking order, it is just the 5 seconds smelly fumes what worries me.
Any thoughts??
Thanks
Will

Brakes are all right. Pedal Ok brake fluid level, perfect.
I will havea look at the spark plugs, but the coolant level is perfect, I have never had to add coolant as it is always at its right level.
I will recheck those things and if I can't find anything I guess Mr Suzuki will be glad to take my money into his account.

surely it can't be valve seals , i've done 120 000K's. no problem like this has happened with mine.worn Valve stem seals can cause a puff of smoke on start up
How many K's on engine??
maybe check your Power steer, could it be spraying fluid onto your exhaust.

Don't think it could be power steering fluid, it comes from inside the exhaust, not from under the hood. And the smell is different. I'll send a PM to Daryl, but very busy at the moment.
Thanks guys.

Coolant level perfect, no oil in coolant, no coolant in oil, not milky oil.
Temperature is always in the lower half. No water or any fluids coming from the exhaust, just those annoying 2 seconds of stinky fumes. The exhaust is not oily as I have stucked my finger inside and it comes dry.
I will rechek the brake booster ass the smell could be brake fluid. I hope I had more time to muck around but I'm flat out untill october.
I'll let you know if I find something on the weekend.

it could be a stuffed injector. this would explain some fumes. some fuel may be trickelling down into the cylinder and is not being fully burnt up for a few seconds causing the fumes you are getting.
there is also a possibility a sensor is playing up causing the computer to overfuel the car for a bit.
other than that and everything other people have said i cant think of anything else that it could be.
