OK heres the thing. I have a single cab hilux with a style side that has been bobbed about 400mm. Before the chop I had the spare mounted on a slight angle but basically flat on the floor of the tray on the mounting braket from the back of a barn door wagon. With this set up i still had room to put my big arse esky flat on the floor wothout moving the spare. Cool.
Tyre now sits loose and flat in the tray (not mounted) because there is no room for items like an esky! it is a PITA to keep moving everytime i need to move anything over the size of a backpack!
My question is:
"where are some practical mounting points for a 33-35 spare on my car?" I have considered mounting on the back legs of the rollbar, the roof of the cab, on a Kaymar style rear bar but it sort of defeats the pourpose of the bob (and i love the results of the bob - havn't hit another thing since!), even cutting the floor of the tray out and recessing it in there but it wouldn't be deep enough and make the floor weak. I'm also concious of height and weight of the spare for COG reasons. Need to keep tailgate on to carry loose thing and keep cop attention low!
ANY IDEAS APPRECIATED - PICS would be great also if you have them
Thanks Ben
