Been Drawing up a few idea's for overhead roof consoles for the rangie to keep my stereo, speakers high and dry!
Was wondering if anyone had made there own and had any pics or info on ways of mounting them?
Im still open to maybe buying one if the price is right (which most likely wont be!) Anyone reccomend a manufacturer?
Would love to see some suggestions
cheers
steve

Overhead Consoles
Moderator: Micka
I've got one for the same reasons (not installed yet), from car consoles supplies (department of the interior). I just don't have time to make my own, with all of the other jobs that I have on, and I wanted it now because I'm installing a heap of other stuff and this is the best time to relocate them.
It may not be possible to get decent speakers in though and I don't think a larger console would be practical in my rangie (thinking of the headroom with my aftermarket seats, which are a bit higher than stock).
To install it, a piece of sheet is fixed to the frame above the windscreen and 2 top hat sections that run across the underside of the roof (it is above the roof lining). Then the console is bolted through this sheet.

I had a look at the Dept of Interior unit but it did not suit my purpose.
I have a custom built unit that has the UHF at the front pointing backwards (Similiar to the Dept of Interior GU ST console) and the MPS player/radio at the back pointing forwards. The recess in the middle has two adjustable maps lights.
I will post up pictures when I get home.
