Maybe someone can shed some light?

Newly purchased GQ wagon turbo diesel,Goes great but,
There is a knocking noise coming from the floor right under
drivers feet.All front bush's were replaced by old owner,
must have been chasing same knock.
And the body mounts are all tight?
Any idea's anyone?

is there a crack in between the flywheel and the drivers side floor as this is a common problem for Gq's

pull ack the carpet, the firewall and the floor pan crack there regularly

You say bodymount is tight, u mean the nut and bolt? You have obviously checked to see that the rubber is not worn away (is longer/wider/thicker) than the metal sleeve up the guts of it?

Have you checked bushes were the leading arms bolt to chasis.

Will check for cracks, and body mounts.
Bushes to chassis have been done.

Where else do they crack?

Get the floor/firewall welded. Inspection they can often look ok, but still needed welding. Make sure you get the passenger side done while you are at it - they normaly go first.

Just a question as I'm chasing the same thing at the moment.

Where exactly should I look for cracking? Ive pulled the carpets out last weekend and it looked all normal (Foot well to fire wall & transmission tunnel to fire wall both sides).

Is the sheet metal in this area double skinned, could it look normal from inside the cabin, but be cracked on the outer skin?

From the inside pour water down there see if it drains away.. from outside, just have to look, feel and see. Tap around the join listening for a dead sound.

It as mentioned above can be other bushes/bearings..

one other thing to look at is the pipes that run across on the firewall. they are held in with white plastic clips that break, and vibs cause them to knock sometimes.

CHECK YOUR SHOCKS TO MAKE SURE THE BOLT IS SCREWED ON PROPERLY, I HAD THE SAME PROBLEM, CHECK THAT BEFORE ANYTHING ELSE....HOPE THIS HELPS. noise i heard was a 'clunk' sound right under the drivers foot, when i accelerated, braked or turn sharply....it gets worse in the wet. tighten the shock bolts and see if u get the noise back!. :armsup:

sounds stupid but maybe your inner mudguard lining on the drivers side has lost a few screws and is hitting the panel in the wind, mine was doing that and took a while to work out what it was.

Look for cracking where the floor pan meets the firewall--almost right under the glow plug timer box on drivers side--look for spot welds that have let go there. Other spots to look for are: Inner guard around steering box, channel section above body mounts, where firewall meets inner guard, radiator mounting panel,bottom corners of windscreen,rear body mounts where nut secures to channel--need to remove rubber blanking plugs to check, where front mudguards bolt to inner guard--particularly near bonnet support rubbers...
