Anyone got TRIK (brand name)Beadlocks

Hi Peter,

I am thinking about doing this; is it legal? I am looking at running 33" Mickey Thompsons on the hilux would i need 16" or 15"? I will check with Ryano tomorrow anyway about the size.
What pressures do i need to deflate to in order to require these?

no its not legal, nor do they balance, nor should you use them on the road at all, its exactly the stuff the dot are scared of on the streets, and what we will all get a bad name over when they fail. i have seen wheel studs break off due to the vibration with badly aligned or worn tyres used on the street.

that said they are very cheap locks and may well be ok for what off road use you have in mind.


mickey thompsons come in 15" and 16" in 33's. what year lux will determine if you need 15 or 16. 16's are dearer.

mt radial anything less than 15 psi, bias prob 12psi to pop beads on a lux assuming you haven't poped a bead yet otherwise you would know. i have run 35 radials on a nissan at 18 psi rear 22 front all day every day on a patrol ute for street use and far less off road.

My inners i got off him were 4mm Btw they are only as strong a the material the rims made of 2.5-3mm

not really, the rim is shaped in 2 planes, it is pretty much self supporting. especially with another piece of steel welded to it at 90°
the problem with the thin inner ring is the unsupported inside edge. 4mm is probably good enough though.

I agree mabe a bit light ,BUT if some people can compete without em i'll take the risk that they are by far better than nothing .I think that they will hold up fine as the forming is spot on to the shape of my rims and the ol creepys have a tuff as side wall so all is sweet.MY 2c worth take em or leave em.I grabbed em.

it will make it a nightmare to get your tyres on. you'll probably have to put the whole tyre onto the rim, then pull the outer bead back over the beadlock.
you should be able to do it, it will just be 3 times as much work to put your tyres on. and there is enough swearing involved in putting them on as it is.

if someone want's to measure up a 15" rim outside diamater and a 15" tyre inside diameter, i'll draw up a set of rings ready for the CNC laser/plasma machines to cut, and host the files somewhere. it isn't hard.

you won't beat the price that dude is offering though, even just taking the files in and having the steel cut will be more than his price.

a friend had this drama with a set of 16's that were cut and flipped then locked. 6 guys could not physically get the tire over the locked side no matter what. so unfortunately they're relegated to poser beadlocks.

YEP thats right i was quoted a 6mm base ring was $35 each plus bolts just not worth it so try and find a cheaper place but all i can say is good luck, And remeber has has over 200 sets of these in operation on all sorts of vehicles

ok the 15" flipped rim measure @418mm, havent got a tyre lyin around so i dont no that 1, what if the lip was machined down on the rim or would it effect the performance of the lox?
