Fixing a battery in the rear of an 80

I have a mate who is trying to fit a battery into the rear of his 80 for running a couple of fridges. I have suggested just screwing a couple of ratchet tiedowns to the floor and then putting the battery in it and tightening it up- and covering the terminals He is running big optimas so in the cab is fine. Any other suggestions, He wants to be able to take it out some times if the fridges arn't in the car.
Any other suggestions - A big optima won't fit in one of those black boxes apparently.

Ive just put a battery box in the rear of mine. It is a LARGE one for boats. As battery is also marine application. Fixed it to the floor with those nutsert thingos. Put some big washers in bottom of box and covered with a piece of old floor mat, just incase of rubbing. Its nice and secure with strap.

Try those connectors for forklifts so he can take the batts out.

Maybe make a steel frame for the batteries as well.

y cant he put it under the bonnet ? i have an 80 and there is a place 4 a second battery behind the headlight. u can even get the factory fibreglass cradles for them 2 suit left and right sides then just run some power leads under the trucj and up into one of the side pockets with a plug 4 the fridges ??

He already has two under the bonnet - thanks guys, he went to a caravan place and got a mounting for it in the end- after he drilled through the fuel tank by accident

I have two mounted behind my front seats, in box's. Moved the weight off the nose of the car and improved drivability heaps! Centre of graviity is under my bum and makes the weight distribution better!

Mate has a third battery mounted next to his fridge with an external breather. Just a deep cycle and drives his fridge!

Seat is in the shed - F$#@ em.
Passengers stuffed my back windows, spill beer, get mud under my seats and broke my stacker... so they can stay out!! Makes the car way more driveable with the 35" Simex where the rear seat was...
