Horn won't work on GQ, Viagra?

Post by CJ Burns Esq »

Ok, the horn has stopped working, cheked steering wheel switch, relay, horn etc etc and it boils down to the fact that the centre part of the steering column, where the nut for the steering whell threads on to, has no connection ot earth.
Can someone advise where the connection would be?
I've checked the slipring behind the wheel itself and thats fine and a test lead from that to earth provides the appropriate noises form the horn as does a lead from the steering wheel itself.
I can only sumise that there is supposed to be an earth connection further down on the column somewhere.
Any assistance greatly appreciated.

Are you running a stock steerring wheel or after market boss and wheel? If aftermarket I can tell you that I resoldered mine on the weekend as the earth had deteriorated and let go, it was on a plate on the back of the boss, anyway depends what wheel you have.

Stock steering wheel.
That plate on the back of the boss is the slipring that brings the cable from the relay under the bonnet. You earth that cable to get the relay to close and it's all good thru the slipring to the steering wheel. It's the centre column in the steering column that has no connection to earth and I can't find where it is supposed to be.
