Looking to buy vehicle, Need advice.

Post by YamahaAlex37 »

I'm going to be buying my first car pretty soon, and I need advice on what to get. I'm deffinently going to be going off-roading and I live in Florida, so you can get an idea of what terrain I'll be going through. I want to spend aroud 4000 dollars and get a stock good condition truck/suv and I'll buy a lift kit and maybe some other stuff for it after I get it. It probably needs to be somewhere between late eighties / early nineties for the price range I'm looking for. What are some good quality durable trucks or suvs that would fit my needs? So far I'm looking at Wranglers, Cherokees, and Broncos.

Give the Pirate4x4 board a go, they are mainly based in the US, they will be able to help you determine the terrain around florida.

Florida is mostly mud or sand right?
IMHO look for a CJ with a nice V8.
The YJ or TJ (wranglers) in your price range would either have 4cylders or some othe undesirable "feature".

Alternative conside a Samari (Zuk)......although not as common as the Jeeps - they are nice & light and bloody capable little beasts.....Plus just something a little different.
IMH I wouldn't bother with the Bronco unless "The Look" is what you want.
