how much should i expect to pay for a lift on a RAV4

mate wants to lift it not much but enough to get him outta trouble abit and doesnt wanna run into replacing anything huge
what will he expect to pay for this?

not worth lifitng its not a 4wd its like lifting a barina,
maybee if u got a sas and changed the rnning gear to hilux stuff so it had a transfer case it would be worth pissing ur money away

Yeah fair point but in orrefing the sarcastic response of 'can I start' is inadvertantely offering an opinion that if read into can be helpful. That is, through said sarcastic response, comments are indicating that a suspension lift on a RAV4 is a blatent waste of time and/or money.

As earlier suggested the RAV4 would be no good unless severely modified and turned into a hybrid hilux. I would suggest that if you don't want to spend that much money and don't want a big fuel guzzling 4x4 then your mate should get his hands on a cheap Suzuki chuck some extended shakles in and wack on some muddies. This will not create a 4wheeldriving monster but should be enough to get a taste without delving into the expensive realms of hardcore modifications

you could lift it 2 inches in the springs, 2 inches on the body and fit some bigger tyres to get an extra inch ground clearance.

A RAV4 is a monoque body, meaning that there is no seperate chassis and body. Therfore a "body lift" can not be done.

A spring lift is definately an option, however not to far before the CV angles become too extreme. As these are full time 4x4 all the CV boots are going to wear out quicker too.

As they run ifs/irs the better option would be a driveline 'drop'. In otherwords, space the motor/gearbox/diffs away from the body. Similar to what the subaru brumby owners do to fit 31's. Don't know how legal this is or how hard it would be to do succesfully. The gearshift is always the main drama here. Subi owners have done 4" & 6" spacers berfore, but it is ALOT of work.

From memory the RAV4 runs a 29" standard.
