Pirahna electronic ignition????
Is this worth getting? Search function was almost useless.
For a 92 model 4.2L injected GQ patrol
Will it better my fuel economy?
Is it hard to fit?
Where is the best place in Sydney to buy the kit?
Cheers Chris

A speed camera would have prevented that!

Re: roc70y
to be honest, i've never pulled the dizzy cap off and had a look. I must have been thinking of a system that uses a crank angle sensor instead of a distributor and the spark is controlled by the computer.tuf045 wrote:well if this is so why do you need to convert roc70y?
I don't look at the underbonnet of the Nissan, i don't want to, i'd much rather tinker with the buggy. As long as the patrol starts every time i'm happy. Obviously i was told that they are very thirsty, but after just doing a season of work down the snow and only getting 300kms out of a 90L tank of juice, i am looking for every possible way to get better fuel economy.
I am going to do a major service on the truck in the next couple of days and get the injectors cleanned and overhauled while i'm doing it.
Anyone know any other tricks?

gq carby
I just brought carby gq and with 35" tyres it gets 4k's to the litre so i am interested in this electronic ignition and anything else that will improve the economy because at $ 1.39 a litre around here it's getting expensive!

heh yeah saw that bs about $1.40 p/l and with a 147 odd L tank (possibly upto 217L) feeding that thirsty 4.2 petrol of mine, anything short of not starting it to make it less thirsty - I'm all ears. What do the fuel inj Patrols normally get out of 90L? 500km?
On my old 90L tank I never saw it get over 400km - in bush or on hwy.

LPG
fark man,
i pity guys still running around on frigin petrol...
you get 400 k's out of a petrol around town if your lucky out of about 90 litres so the cost is 31.50 per hundred
LPG you will get about 350km's from a tank of 95 litres at 42c a litre
the cost is 11.40 per hundred k's
saving of 20$ per hundred k's
if you drive about 500km's a week you will save 100$ in petrol
now more than ever the advantage to your accessorising wallet of LPG is clear
Jes

yeah im pretty sick of the old carby and points on my patrol.
thought about putting the electronic ignition on the old girl but i still didnt like that carby, could have had the thing rebuilt but that would have cost me about 4 or 500 bucks to do and a decent electronic igntions a couple of hundred and what are ya left with still! a carby.
so instead im in the middle of fuel injecting the rig using the ford falcon centrepoint setup. looks like its gonna cost me a little more than i was hoping but i'm not counting exactly cause i dont wanna know but if it can save me any sort of fuel and im sure it'll drive smoother then i'll be happy!

can it be contained in an aftermarket dizzy cap for a GQ, as i replaced mine with aftermarket becasue of the sheer price. the only difference i have noticed is the breather is a little smaller on the aftermarket.RoadNazi wrote:I have pertonix and it is very good. Hardly any moving parts and it is all contained with in the distributor cap.
