Body mounts and 1" Lift

Post by jumankum »

Hi folks, I have the dreaded (by me) knock under the floor pan. This started a while back and is getting louder. it is also worse when wet (definately body mounts right?)

I recently fitted 33" Mtrs which rub on the inside of the rear guard under full flex and twist and am thinking if I have to replace the body mounts i may as well lift it.
I don't want a big lift but enough to totally stop the rubbing would be nice. 1" should be fine. Can a 1" lift be done without any mods at all? I all ready have a 2-3 inch spring lift.

Cheers Jim

Ps I am already having steering issues so does a body lift affect handling apart from the raised Cog?

I have got a 1" body lift with 2" sus. lift.

You will still need to modify you high/lowrange lever (bend it) and your dif breather tubes in the engine bay will require a "gentle bend". I also loosened my fuel filler hose (in behind driver side rear wheel ,behind cover) and tightened it up later. :)

Just did my 2" body lift today. Just look under the car and you will see the mount points. It took at little be longer than expected as the little fellow took off with the extension socket, kids.

Anyway, 2" lift made no difference to my steering.
