need help urgently
hey im am puttin a new clutch in and i ned to change the release bearing(i think thats wat it is called) i dont have a clue how to get it off the hub(think thats wat it is called). can someone plz help me?

Its a thrust bearing i think and you may need a bearing press to get it off depending how tight it is. sorry i cant help more. Getting the other on can be fun too, put the bearing in the oven first but ask the missus or you might get a swift kick. DONT exced the operational temperature of the greese in the breaing though or its cactus. The heat will expand it a littel and makes fitting a little easier. Dont heat the other part.

support the old brg accross the jaws of an open vice and using a socket that is a neat fit through the centre of the bearing drive the carrier out of the brg.
To fit the new brg, support the brg carrier and using a socket that is a good fit on the inner hub of the brg, drive the brg onto the carrier.
Do it right and its easy, do it wrong and you destroy the brg.

You can also put the carrier in the freezer for a couple of hours before fitting the bearing. No domestic freezer will not chill it sufficiently to make it brittle. As already mentioned, use a socket the size of the bearing inner and gently tap it on with a deadblow hammer or use a piece of timber between the socket and a normal hammer.
like the others said, just make sure when u press the new bearing on that you only apply pressure to the inner shell. I'd give the carrier a light clean up with some emery paper to ensure it's smooth, stick it in the freezer for a few hours then press the bearing on, you can also open the vice right up and line up the carrier, bearing and socket neatly so that when u tighten the vice it presses the bearing on, just make sure it goes on straight...
