Japanese Import Motors

Post by FROZY »

I have been searching all over the place for a jap import motor for my feroza
without too much luck. There arent too many places that have the HD motor in perth and was wondering if anyone knows of a reputable importer that will freight one to perth.

Just get an applause locally if you want a cheap motor

Hot Fours mags and the like used to have heaps of Jap engine importers advertising. Places like SSS Automotive in Sydney (IIRC?) and EKW in Melbourne spring to mind.

Better off sourcing locally though IMHO- in case you have warranty issues. ;)

there is an applause at the "pick-a-part" in bendigo... its done about 113,000k's IIRC.
I bought an intake off it a couple of days ago.. so unless anyone else has bought stuff, the engine will be complete minus the ari box & pipe.. and the spark plug leads.

How does a Feroza go with the applause motor? Got any specs on it? Surely it can't be anything more fancy then a 1.6 twin cam? Doesnt seem like it would be worth doing an engine conversion to something just as sad as the HD motor :D Sounds like it must just about bolt straight in?

Cheers

Same engine with different cam and ignition advance curve (ie springs in the distributor.) ;) Peak power is supposedly a bit higher, but I think the torque curve at low revs suffers.
