anyone know anything about these tires? there is zero info bout em on the net. they only come in the 7.50x16 size, which is wat im chasing, a narrow tire with some height

If you're talking about the M/P Trekkers, i looked at them recently but they're only speed rated to 120kph which may mean they won't be legal.

I've decided to go for Maxxis Bighorn muddies in 235/85R16 instead, which will go on as soon as I have the funds.

All re-treads/moulds are speed limited to 120km/h as well. a 120km/h speed limit is not an issue legality wise. Only a prob with your insurance if you have a prang and are found to be exceeding the speed rating of the tyre and this was a contributing factor to the accident etc etc etc.

i didnt think the M/P was a retread.
How is it different to a E/T or JTII?

not implying it is a retread. just stating that retreads are legal and are also rated at 120 km/h

I was advised by a tech bloke in ACT rego that 120kph speed rating is not acceptable to them and even retreads are 140.

I'm not claiming you're wrong, but on that advice I decided that Maxxis bighorns would be the better bet for the same price and a 140 speed rating.

Wouldnt woory about the speed rating to much just as long as it is faster then you intendto drive.
As there aint many ATs or MT tyres that have high enough speed rating. Especial since I think most new 4bys need a speed rated tyre to 180km/h.

AFAIK all/most states have regs that replacement tyres must be the same or higher speed rating than the old tyres. So it would be legal to fit these things to a series land rover or a 40 series, but not to most newer 4x4's.

they wouldnt be legal on mine anyway, seeing as they're 7 inches bigger than standard. so the speed rating thing wouldn't worry me

Speed ratings issue was contested, and won a while back.
Providing the speed rating of the tyre in question is in excess of state max. speed limits then no worries, cos you aint allowed to go faster than that anyhoo now are you.....
But load ratings must the the same or higher than std.
