Can anyone recomend a gas conversion place around Franksto or so (Mornington penisula), as I have called around and the cheapest quote was 2100, but for what you get that seems pretty expensive. Alos has anyone done anything themselves, and then got it checked, is this legal. I am asking cause i want to convert my 88 rangie to gas as it is quite thirsty
When i had the stroker 308 in mine, i got a few qoutes, and they were around 2800, so i did it my self just to see how it went. About $400 later it was on gas, scuba tanks in the back and all. After a tune up i found it a waste of time and i'm glad i didn't spend the money, 65litres and a range of approx 190klms, pulled it out and the motor and now i've gone desiel!
My old 2door got about 75litres and a range of 300 odd kays i think, but the car was stock as a rock. Speak to Len at rangie wreckers in Somerville and he may be able to help out cause over 2k is a lot of money.( i gave my scuba tanks to him about 2 years ago)

It must have a really bad state of tune. As an example, my LPG auto GQ 4.2 efi gets between 4-4.5 kms/litre. Both vehicles dual fuel, so a bit of a compromise regarding tune.
That's the way I'd like to go, a V8 conversion but either a stroked Holden 355 or an LS1 (gen 3). But I would seriously think of using gas vapour injection rather than a conventional gas conversion. I've seen a few of the gas vapour installs next door and this is going to be the future of LPG I'm sure.

sumone please tell me they are getting better figures than that for there gas setups 
I am lookin to convert the rangie to STRAIGH gas no fuel at all, advance the ytiming abit and away i go??? but unless i gonne get some half decent figures i might just chuck in a deisel.

Try and source as much as possible 2nd hand like the lpg converter, mixer lpg tank or tanks, pocket or sill tanks. I scrounged the parts for my rangie and it cost me about $1200 and that was for twin under floor tanks with cradle, twin sill tanks (45 ltrs each), gas line, lock offs, switch, converter mixer etc. I used a 350 holley and impco system but now use the twin carbs as i have swaaped everything into another rangie. Range is approx. 350 klm to 70 ltrs gas ( 5k per ltr) and with the sill tanks ( 90 ltrs total) approx. 450 klm. I currently use $25 of lpg a week @ 41 c /ltr. Although some will bag the holley for off road, i found i was using the gas more anyway as it wont flood and runs smoother than on petrol. If you wont to do it even cheaper, just fit a tank in the rear down one side and keep your original pet tank.
