Bundy Coil Travel & Other Suspension Questions

After having been extremely pleased with the ride and handling offroad of our vehicle, I'm now starting to think about getting the little beast some new legs and shoes.

I'm kind of stumped as to how much vertical travel can be expected from a stock vehicle, and how much improvement can be had by going to say, 80series front coils all round (from OME) and some new shockers too.

The 'benchmark' I'm looking at is apparently on a Defender (current model) one can expect around about 6" up front (vertical travel, does this mean +/- 6"??).

In case it's relevant, i'm thinking of getting the 2" suspension lift and going to 32" tyres. I know the vehicle can take the 32"s without mods, but if I have to change the coils and shocks, I might as well get some nice ones put in! :lol:

Also, is it true that all I'll need will be wheel balancing and no need for changes to gearing etc etc once the new set up is in?

and yes, I'll be changing bushes and all as well. :lol:

dude, SEARCH!

search for bundera + suspension and you will turn up spomoe good threads on this topic.

at the end of the day though you will NEVER get good articulation out of a bundera, the leading/trailing arm setup is just wrong for flex. if you are serious about articulation, 5 link front and A-frame rear is the jiggy.

if you just want to ramp it, you can pull out one from the front and one from the rear to allow it to open up. I'm not telling which bolts :D
