Hey guys, a mate bought a 82' model lux just to bash around. Now he wants to compete in woodpecker and the supertruck. He is a good weld and will make all the link arangements himself, but he was wondering if the FOX SHOX will work with the weight he has. Otherwise, he is thinking to go to coilovers, which is much more expensive. Also, how much time is neede to look after them, and how often do u need to regas them and oil them. Any help would be great.

i've just today finished all my link and shock mounting on my 85 lux. i used the swayaway shocks though, aparantly they have a little better load capacity and use a 5/8" spherical bearing instead of a 1/2" in the fox's. my initial impressions about the setup is great. using my engine crane i get about 5 feet of wheel travel. i am using 18" stoke rear and 16" front. mounting was really easy. best of luck, hope my experiences have helped.

I'm using Fox 2.5 X 18" stroke airshox on my FJ 40. Flex is stupidly huge, but there is an extreme amount of fussing required to get them set up properly. Be prepared to use a sway bar (currie anti-rock or similar). Expect to have to make some design changes to accomadate the sweep involved with the travel. I'd suggest using the shortest version that you can handle. Mine are almost 50" end to end at full extenstion. Once built, the shocks take about 5 trips to settle (nitrogen gets absorbed into the oil after a while. There's a matter of stiction to deal with as well. the Fox 2.5 can handle 1500 lbs each versus the 1000 max of the 2.0. read billavista's tech article on pirate for more info.
