What fuel economy would you get from a 1995 3.5 litre V6 Pajero?

Kempster, that's a very difficult question to answer! It's going to vary depending on so much, such as:

• City/highway/offroad
  manual/auto
  tyres and tyre pressures
  towing or not
  maintenance (eg air cleaner condition!)
  weight of your right foot.

1995 3.5 is DOHC, which loves to rev but doesn't have as much low-down torque as later (SOHC) models.

A manual, driven conservatively on the highway, well maintained with factory tyres you could achieve around 11l/100km.

Same vehicle, around the city, could use 13-15l/100.

Auto trans, expect to use another 1 to 2 l/100.

Offroad, anything from 15-20l/100. That upper figure could be worse in an auto.

I am thinking of buying one, and have read how much better they are on fuel than the 3 litre V6.
Just wondered how good they where.

I have a DOHC manual in the SWB model and to be honest 11l/100km is a little ambitious. Driven nicely at or around the speed limit (with the 31's)looking at about 12.5 or so, but that it is hilly NZ!

I'd say go for an average of 14 to 15.

Lifters get really noisey if you dont do an oil change every 5k.

No other problems with our 3.5 DOHC
