Half doors

I have a pàir of sierra doors waiting to be cut in half doors, but I'm not very good with my hands.

So I was wondering there is someone in the Sydney area that cangive me a hand. I pay the for booze and/or the labour.

i'd help you but i'm not local

it's an easy job. the tools i used:
sheet tin (cheap from bunnings)
4" grinder
tin snips
drill
hand held pop riveter
metal file

mark the final shape of the door
then add 1/2" on the top side for folding over and mark that line as well
cut the top section off the door with a 4" grinder along the second line
file the edges smooth
cut little Vs where there are bends in line to make tabs
fold all the little tabs inwards
cut the tin to shape
drill holes for the rivets
pop rivet the tin to the door

I'm not so very good with my hands. If I do it myself I'll finish with door frames instead of half doors.

Any help in Sydney??? Please!!!

I have seen lots of pics in here, but I don't have the tools or the ability to do it.

That is why I'm screaming for HELP!!!!! And as i said before, I'm not expecting someone to do it for free. I will pay if there is any charge.

PS: BTW Nice doors those of chopzuki, but, can they be welded instead of riveted? I live across the street from the beach and rust love to get into every single hole in the metal.

Really easy, just use some Al C section to cap it, like i did. I havent added internal trims yet, but im lazy.

will, forget welding. it's too hard with such thin stuff. the sheet tin i got from bunnings won't rust. the door steel might if you let it fill with water. i ran mine with no internal trim and i just hosed it out completely after a mud run. it will be fine and would probably last longer than standard doors with vinyl trim that never gets cleaned out.

just do the mod. take it slow and think about what you're doing. measure twice, cut once, etc... you will be fine my man. only one way to learn.

by the way, i used a gate bolt latch to keep the door shut. this was mounted on the inside of the door. i also replaced the rubber door strap with a 50mm strap with a quick release buckle. exactly like the ones on the waist of many hiking backpacks.

If you live near the beach, I found the simplist and most rust free way(if there is such a thing) is to use fibre glass cloth and resin. I just cut my doors down pretty much the same way as everyone else has, and used resin/cloth to cap it. I found it's easier to screw some peices of timber flush with the cut, to strengthen it. Probably takes a bit longer, and there is a far bit of sanding involved, but it looks real neat, and seals the bare metal off!! As for opening the door, I just switched the locking mechanism for the door opener, so now you just push down on the button you would usually press to lock you car to open the door. However , word of warning...1/2 cut doors are no fun if you are driving in mud, or on beaches where you are likely to cross creeks, or down near the waters edge.....

I have cut down my old zook doors and they worked fine.I still made use of the original door handles as well,but you wanted to go lower with the cut and do away with the outside handles that fine...
