1982 Hilux diesel 4x4 Ln46 Trouble/Questions!!!

Post by FrankB »

I have a 1982 hilux 4x4 diesel LN46R with 260 000kms on the dial the motor has never been fixed it is original (2188CC). I Have had this ute in the family since new and have noticed lately that I have very little power and struggle to make it up steep inclines and have generally noticed a lack of power and more smoke than usual coming from the exhaust, also it is starting to use a little oil.

The injectors have never been replaced or cleaned. I have been told that if I replace these I should notice a huge improvement but I am not sure if this is right.

I am wondering what I can do to restore the hilux back to its original power without spending the big bucks if possible??

Please help all advice will be appreciated

I change oil and oil filter every 5000kms and diesel filter every 10000kms.
How much should I pay to get the injectors replaced by someone??

reco injecters normally sell for bout $90 ea (exchange) but always they look at ur old ones and the story is urs are shot and u gotta play full price which i think is about $400 ea, as for fitting etc no idea wouldnt say more thant $200

might be worth thaking it to a diesel specialist and getting them to give a quote of a full serivce, get the valves checked, dyno run, full tune but that can run into some serious $$
