Well it snowed for a while yesterday. SS1 and SS2 were absolute carnage on Sat. SS1 had a petty decent hill with compulsory winch, but new rule was put in place that one car had to recover the other, so they had to work very well together. SS2 had the meanest biarch of a bog hole, I don't think any teams got through it, not sure but I think most teams DNF'd that stage. Heaps of people with broken winch rope, dead winch motors or dead solenoids, very hard on winches. SS3 first thing this morning got em going again, it was a pretty quick stage with only a few needing to winch a small hill section, otherwise they blasted thru. SS4 was a tag team set up with a loop up a steep short hill then on a nasty side angle and back down the hill to the finish. Jeff Redmond (spelling?) unfortunately rolled on the side slope, but were okay. As far as I could tell its anyones event as everyone ( I think) had DNF'd a stage. Rohan and Cass, Ben and Stu were charging mega hard and drove a lot of stuff most others had to winch, was awesome to watch! Until I left I think Rohan was the only one to drive SS4 without winching, but forgot to put is helmet on so DNF'd SS4. From what I saw Trent Leen and Mike Smith both had major winch problems all weekend which was making it hard for them. The mud from the bog hole seemed to be causing the problems, it was just packed in everywhere, especially with winches. Anyway theres a quick bit of news for ya's!

When I was leaving it looked like Roger Smiths event was over, on SS6 the rangie sounded like it chewed the cross axle locker going into another bog hole and they had to winch out and DNF'd that stage. Nash's who were teamed up with Roger may have been then going to join up with a dude in a black chopped turbo shorty (sorry don't know his name, but he drove most of SS4 really hard but solo!). The boys from OnTrack with Shrek had to take one winch motor off, after the other one died on SS1, then they had a few minor repairs underway, holed rad, leaking clutch whcih meant they lost clutch in the bog hole, all after a big impact into the bog hole. There were a lot of bent and sorry looking trucks, but some awesome driving!

Recieved this SMS this morning from a marshal....

After 4 SS
1st Rohan & Ben
2nd Mike & trent
3rd Brett & Jeff Redman
4th Sandy & Greeny

Channel 10 have filmed some action. 2 roll overs with lots of mechanical damage. 1 stage only 1 of 9 vehicles finished, 2 of 9 in another. 3 stages to go. Marty is out.

(Oh and after reading this it seems the Rangie's days are nearly over. Poor Rog has worked long and hard to get it race ready, only for it to bust again. )

Just spoke with Roger Smith. He drove back to Melb last night to collect trailer and was driving back to pick up the wreckage - seems something not happy in his ctr diff hi and low range, locked or unlocked.

Bummer huh!

He wasn't able to give me more than has already been told.

Sure sounds like fun though.

Where are da pics????

I thought they might win, they were the stand out team to watch, heaps faster than most others, good stuff! They were killing the stages....except for the bog hole!

Awsome event, a lot of carnage. Only 5 of the 9 teams stated the last stage, and sandy DNF'd the last stage because his front left wheel snapped off. Nice and close between 1st and 2nd, makes the half a second that Rohan and Ben beat Smithi and Trent by on SS5 very important. I'll try to get some photo's up later, should have a few of Jeff Redmans rollover.

It wasn't too bad, he still finished the rest of the event, it looked like he was lucky that a tree stopped him.

what a weekend some of the most carnage i have ever seen i had a ball besides DNFing 3 stages and thay were the only stages we had done then pulling out from a blown head gasket, was not happy with the waiting around for 4 hours to start the first ss on sat but all in all was good practice for vic winch. i think every one nows how to use a snatch bloke or 2 or 3 now thanks to the orginisers and every one who helped
