Keeping up with wear on a 75

Post by pridhac »

Folks,

My 75 series ute has 320,000km on it (2H). I have decided against turbo charging this motor. I have read all of the 2H threads in The Bible.

I seek the collective's opinion. I am considering: i) porting and polishing the inlet side of the equation. ii) fitting extractors and full 3" exhaust. iii) fitting a snorkel (possibly homemade as the ready made jobbies look a little angular and I figure I can piece something together that is smooth all the way through).

I wonder if this will help this motor function a little more efficiently until it expires.

I also wonder if the bottom of the windscreen would be a good place for the snorkel head as this seem like a high pressure position.

Any input appreciated

with the exhaust, I was told for my 2H that 2.5" with extractors is the way to go.... you get the power and efficiency to match. Apparently 3" was at a point where you'd lose power... but I aint no exhaust guru, just what I was told.

go the snorkel... it'd be a hell of alot cheaper for you to make one too if you can.... but if you are intending on doing a few river/deep water crossings, I'd be inclined to go above the bottom of the windscreen.

thats about it for all I can help ya with...

Later.
When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!

Judging from what I have read in The Bible, 2.5" mandrel bent is ideal, but pricey.

3" non-mandrel bent seems an acceptable compromise....

On this note, any advice on exhaust suppliers/fitters around Narellan/Liverpool/Penrith would be handy too.

What would this do, and can someone explain to me better what it is?

p.s the extractors/exhaust/snorkl = the way to go! I'm checking out some 2nd hand extractors today for 60 bucks

This article http://www.mrsharkey.com/lpg.htm in the process of detailing the ins and outs of LPG fumigation, explains the process of diesel combustion quite succinctly.
