electronic rust protection
would like some advice on electronic rust protection do these things really work and if so what brand is best to buy
I have asked this question on several forums in the past and the overwhelming response was in the negative. There were many long and detailed - very scientific - responses explaining why they don't work. My brother-in-law asked a ranger on Fraser once and he was told it didn't help their vehicles at all. Spray it with something instead, and keep it clean

rusting
I looked deeply into this about six months ago and the response was a resounding NO, except by people who sell them.
The NRMA, RACQ and a few others have conducted extensive testing using several brands under specific controlled conditions. One of the brands even sent someone out out each week to make sure they were happy with the way they were testing the product. The test peice of metal that did not have one installed did not rust any more or less than the peices that had them installed.
Everyone that sells these things will tell you the scientific explaination of how and why they work and in theory it should, but the facts don't lie THEY DON'T WORK.
Get the spray on stuff and wash your truck thoroughly.
