nightowl family weekend October 1&2

Post by duncan »

After spending the weekend up at the new venue cutting out the course and driving it,WA now has a 4x4 event worth competing in.

The new course is very challenging with lots of steep desecents and climbs lots of off camber gullies to drive down with twisty sections through the timber then finnaly lots of rocks to drive over all of this is natural terrain.

The property is excellent offering huge areas for camping were everyone could have there own fire.

After this weekend it has been decided by Alan Crane president of the Night Owl 4x4 club to open a family weekend for people to come up to the property to drive the course. To do this it will cost you $20 per vehicle that will then go back to the club to beable to be spent on the course. This is your chance to drive the competion course and give your comments back to Alan.

If you wish to come up to the property for the weekend you need to contact Alan Crane by the 21st of September so that he can no how many people are comming and can give you directions.

Do your self a favor guys and get up there to see how good this course is then people will get behind it so that next years event will be huge .

Some ideas tossed around by the fire

possible teams event
winch event (up undriveable gullies)
band for Saturday night of comp weekend
comp on a standard weekend not September long weekend
possible sponser ship by BWS so drinks could be available

To contact Alan Crane
email address ttassie@westnet.com.au
or 9571 1483

Julie and myself will only be there Saturday as Im working on Sunday but we are getting there early to spend the hole day up there .Will be awsome to see the first full size car try to get around the course a good spotter will be needed .There is great viewing for spectators as lots of the course is in the bottom of the gullies. The hill climbs and decents are very steep with a nice vertical rock water fall to climb half way up one of the gullies.

Yes a 2wd ute or car could get to the property the road in starts as a dual width gravel road then you turn of onto a single width gravel road which takes you out to the property.Once there you can get to the top of the course were day parking will be in a car but if you want to go to were camping and the start finishes are a 2wd ute or 4wd would be better as you have to drive through a couple of paddocks which were boggy hopefully they will dry out
