79 series

Can someone verify this apparent problem with the 79 series cruizer. A mate of mine is looking to get one for touring etc and we have heard of a guy in the club we are in having his ute bending in the middle.A bit like a banana. This only happens when the vehicle is on the ground. When they pick it up on the machine to test if its bent it straightens out without the weight on it. Supposedly this is a problem as a result of the tray or wheelbase being extended from the previous model. He only noticed when he put a big bit of steel onto the back and thought the steel was bent but it was the truck. He is selling the truck as a result of this. Has anyone heard of this or is this a one off case? Would like to know before shelling out the cash for one.
Thanks

Its the 1st time I heard of it. They are a strong chassis but misuse can still damage them.
It could be accident damaged.
Heat damage is another remote possibilty.
Its not unusual for cab chassis to be made up from leftover parts from the mines where they have a rough life

Just how much is it flexing?

The flex was obvious but im not sure exactly how much. I know his truck was bought from new and is only a few years old. He put it down to the cab or wheelbase or tray or whatever being lengthened from the previous model and not strengthened to suit. He also carries steel on it etc but not excessive amounts. This must be a one off problem if no one has heard of it. Maybe he just bought a dud
