Throwout and thrust bearings should come with the kit. U may want to do the spiggot bearing also. this is in the flywheel. a couple of $$ for this.

About right with the box. i got mine for 500 exchange. Clutch, try hitech brake and clutch (frobisher street) in osborne park. they have been reasonable to me.

cheers

someone came over and said my clutch feels/sounds fine.. hrm..

they said what probably happened is one of the bearings came loose... and then the clutch started smoking up because of this?

does that sound right?

A small possible- should not effect the clutch not working at all.

As said before: any noises when u let the clutch out when running into any gear?

Check also if the tailshaft to the transfer is moving or not.

cheers

Have a look under the zook at the shaft between the gearbox and transfer. short shaft about 1/2m long. see if that is turning first. l

eave the gbox in first and clutch out to test. should not be able to stop the shaft turning by hand. If this is turning then the gearbox should be ok.

Nah,

* Start it up
*Put in 1st and clutch out to make it engage first gear. U should be able to let it idle in 1st and the shaft will spin.
*?does the shaft out of the gearbox spin before the transfer case?
*If yes make sure the transfer will shift from N to 4lo or 4high.
*if no then u have problems between engine and gearbox end. (clutch or box)

PM me if u want and u can gimmie a ring.

cheers

hmm, bad. :? It was the top shaft and not the shaft that goes to the front wheels ??? (will try get a pic later if i can.)

sounding very much like clutch problems still.

Get a proper mech to have a look. if yours mates going to do the clutch swap. best to do it and see whats the issue in there. if its the box u may need some of the cluch parts anyway. Wait to wed to see what they say.

Is a possible that the bearings came loose and spinning up the smoke. Just seems unusual.

ah i think its definately the clutch as i remember about a month ago i thought i was having carby problems because the car suddenly started revving and not accelerating.. this happened a few times..

I think when i went through deep water ages ago that fucked the clutch up a bit :|

what are your thoughts

Sounds like u hit the nail on its head :)

Water is not a clutch's friend. when u change the clutch check if u have the small metal plate on the bottom rear of the gearbox, this usually stops most of the water getting in.

hrm what height is the clutch meant to be? my clutch is 10cm above the brake...

in the factory manual it says it should be level with the brake...

is that a dodgy install from ages back?

cheers

Sounds like your clutch dude.

Your car won't build revs without building speed unless

a. you've got the clutch depressed.
b. you clutch is slipping.

Get someone with some mechanical skills to have a look at it for you, shouldn't take that long to tell you which part of your car is f*cked. Change the oils in the transfer and diffs while your there. Hot Tip, if your doing that by yourself late at night and have limited tools (read socket set) and you have to drive 90klms to pick the missus up (like i did) make sure you can undo your filler plugs BEFORE you drain the oil out. :bad-words: :bad-words:

do u have drive in 4th? and if not it is the clutch!
4th gear just locks the center shaft in the box. no mater what is brojen it should drive (or make some nasty fucking noises)
and once again... pull the farker out!
