Ive got a 93 5 Speed 80 series, the gearbox tends to be difficult for gear changes 1 thru 2 and 2 thru 3, tends to be better when its warmer, but i have a feeling its the synchros, down thru the gears isnt as bad but its still apparent...
When the revs are right it slips in fairly nice, but the missus has trouble, which gives me an excuse to spend more money!!!
anyone had this problem and pulled the box out and replaced any components etc???

When I first got my cruiser I was sus about similar issues. There is a bush at the bottom of the gearstick that causes some misalignment. Changing that makes it firmer/less play, and makes driving it smoother but they also changed the oil and that made 2nd less notchy.
Apart from that, yeah its a little tighter to change when its cold.

Shut Up, Get Out, & Start Digging...
ill give the bush a go, obviously can be changed through the top without pulling the box out?
the car was owned by the head mechanic for a toyota dealer here in perth, so the oil would be a genuine toyota item, maybe i need to put an additive or something in to help...
might give a gearbox place a call too and see what they reckon...
Cheers Ryan
