What's the go with the front diff in 79series cruisers my mate'e 79 just happened to fall of a big bank. while trying to whinch him back up as you do, his backing up big hill loading front diff and arb locker with 35 simex. why does the crown wheel and pinion break so easy even rover CW&P don't break that easy and more importantly what is the fix? aftermarket? Thanks for the help

I build custom front housings for 78/79's, 80's and 100's that use the Nissan GQ/GQ front diff centre and it fix's the problems full stop. The Toyota's that run the 4.3:1 ratios seem the be more prone to failing than the 4.1:1 centres but have still seen heaps of them fail. Reversing up steep inclines seems to be the common thing when they break.

cloughy, it is possible to have your CWP cryogenically treated there? Longfield Enterprises and other outfits in the US do this treatment, but Bobby Long does not recommend doing it on the rear diff (or the front of fulltime 4WD vehicles) as the cryo treatment appears to reduce wear resistance. With enough money I'm sure somebody can make CWP sets out of 4340 alloy, but none is available off the shelf AFAIK.
